Resetting the Ikea BEKANT electric desk

If for any reason your BEKANT desk has its legs out of sync, you may notice the desk moves unevenly, doesn’t move up, or doesn’t move at all. What can you do?

Hey rejoice! It’s an easy fix. No need for disassembly.

First make sure the “obvious” things are ok.

• The desk is plugged in.
• The “key” is in the control box.
• There is absolutely nothing blocking the desk from moving down.
  (Double check this before moving on)

After checking that there are no obstructions, you can continue. This is important, because the next step will bypass the safety features of the electric motors.

1. Move the desk as far down as it will go (if at all).
2. Press and hold down both UP and DOWN buttons for at least 10 seconds.
3. Press and hold the DOWN button until the desk has moved as far down as it will go and completely stopped.
   WARNING! The desk will move down past its normal lowest point.
4. Move the desk back up to the normal height

Voilà! It’s fixed.
